2025 TUCKS ESTATE PINOT NOIR

29th Oct 2025

HELLO, 2025. MEET THE NEW TUCKS ESTATE PINOT NOIR

There’s something quietly special about the 2025 Tucks Estate Pinot Noir. It’s expressive yet effortless, bright yet grounded – a true reflection of the Mornington Peninsula’s cool-climate charm.

Crafted under the watchful eye of Simon Black, Montalto’s General Manager – Wine and Chief Winemaker, this release continues Tucks’ signature approach: premium winemaking with a relaxed, modern attitude. Simon has been making Pinot Noir on the Peninsula for more than two decades and has earned a national reputation for producing wines that balance texture, purity and sense of place. The 2025 vintage is no exception – generous, juicy, and unmistakably Red Hill.

A COOL-CLIMATE CLASSIC, OUR WAY

Mornington Peninsula Pinot Noir has its own rhythm. The region’s long, gentle ripening season, moderated by Port Phillip Bay’s cooling influence, allows for perfect balance between ripeness and freshness. The result? Pinot Noir that dances between plush fruit and fine structure – serious wine that still knows how to have fun.

The 2025 season delivered just that. Mild conditions through summer led to a steady, even ripening, allowing fruit to be harvested in late February and early March at optimum flavour and tannin development.

FROM VINE TO WINE

At Tucks, precision and personality meet in the winery.

The 2025 Estate Pinot Noir was sorted and destemmed into small two-tonne open fermenters, followed by a short cold maceration period of three to five days to capture colour and perfume before the onset of wild fermentation.

Once fermentation was complete, the young wine enjoyed a further five to seven days of post-ferment maceration, developing gentle tannin structure and layering depth. After pressing, the wine was transferred to French oak barriques and puncheons for natural malolactic fermentation and eight months’ maturation before blending and bottling.

  • Harvest: Late February – early March 2025
  • Alcohol: 13.5%
  • pH: 3.60
  • TA: 6.10 g/L
  • Oak: French barriques and puncheons (8 months)

These technical details might sound clinical, but the intent is simple: to let the vineyard do the talking while giving the wine just enough structure and polish to express itself gracefully.

WHAT IT TASTES LIKE

This Pinot Noir opens with sweet red plum, tinned cherries, and vibrant blue fruits, wrapped around a juicy, plush core. It’s silky and expressive but never over the top – the hallmark of great Peninsula Pinot.

As it opens in the glass, earth, bramble and spice start to emerge, giving the wine a savoury edge that complements its fruit generosity. A strong framework of fine, structural tannins provides shape and drive, guiding the palate toward a long, layered finish that’s both supple and sophisticated.

In short: it’s the kind of Pinot that makes you stop mid-conversation and say, “This is really good.”

HOW TO ENJOY IT

Tucks wines have always been about good times with great company, and this Pinot fits right in.

Serve it slightly chilled – around 16–18°C – in a wide Pinot glass to let those perfumed aromatics sing. If you’ve got the patience, give it a quick 15-minute decant to soften the edges and open up the fruit.

Food pairings:

Crispy-skinned duck with cherry glaze

Mushroom risotto with thyme and parmesan

Roast beetroot salad with goat’s cheese

Charcuterie and hard cheeses on the terrace

Barbecue lamb cutlets with rosemary

It’s approachable enough for an easy Sunday lunch, yet polished enough to pour at a dinner party.

DRINK NOW, CHILL LATER

The 2025 Tucks Estate Pinot Noir is drinking beautifully now but will reward a little patience. Over the next five years, expect those red fruits to deepen into darker tones, while the tannins mellow and integrate further.

Store it somewhere cool and dark – and maybe keep two bottles handy. One for today, one for a future summer evening.

THE TUCKS TAKE

At Tucks, we’ve always believed wine should make you smile before you even take the first sip. The 2025 Estate Pinot Noir does exactly that – bright, expressive, and perfectly balanced between joy and elegance.

It’s a Pinot made with care by Simon Black and the winemaking team, but designed to be shared, not studied. Pour a glass, find a patch of sun, and let the wine do the talking.
